Angoon Visitor Center

MRV was selected to design a new Visitor Center and Café for the small community of Angoon. Designed to evoke traditional Tlingit form, but with a contemporary feel, the Angoon Visitor Center includes space to educate, celebrate, and socialize. The front façade provides space to include carved panels by local carvers and a Totem pole.

The visitor center also includes an exhibit area for historic and cultural artifacts that celebrates the history and culture of Angoon, a gift shop, where local artists can sell their work, and a café where community members and visitors can meet and socialize with one another. The Visitor Center faces Mitchell Bay, providing guests with some of Angoon’s most stunning views.

This project was completed by a talented team consisting of Dawson Construction, BBFM Engineers, Katabatic Engineering, Alaska Energy Engineering, and Gorman Engineers.
