This dream-home on Cannon Island in Sitka, AK, uses form and materials to blend with its rocky beach-front site. Board-form concrete walls connect artfully to dramatic bedrock outcroppings. Views loved by the owners are captured and framed by a series of rooms inspired by traditional Japanese design. The building is sited to allow for the retention of as many trees as possible, and the few hemlocks and spruces that did have to go became the texture of the board-form casts. Natural wood carries into the building through elegant trusses and interior finishes. The project, currently under construction, will provide it's inhabitants with both warm living spaces and serene connections to the natural environment.
