Juneau-Douglas High School Renovation
The Juneau-Douglas High School renovation project features a new two-level atrium space extending the full width of the school from the main entry to a new stairway connecting all three levels of the building. The atrium incorporates extensive glazing at each end and at large clerestory windows below the curved roof structure. New administration and counseling areas, and a new entry to the library are located along the south side of the atrium for easy access and good central control of the school. The renovation includes electrical, mechanical, and seismic system upgrades, ADA and building code upgrades, and general improvements to finishes and access. The project also includes extensive new digital technology, including a fiber optics computer network, IP phone system, and building automation system. Former MRV Principal Richard Ritter was project manager for this project.
