Haines Main Street Planning

The Borough of Haines has obtained MRV’s planning services to study methods to revitalize Haines’ Main Street. A public process, MRV has been coordinating direct input, including community interviews of local business owners and local residents. The study encompasses understanding the complex issues of enticing more seasonal visitors to Main Street while maintaining its local use by the people of Haines. Currently downtown Haines is isolated from all arrival points: ferry terminal, the Canadian Highway, and the cruise ship dock. The results of the study will focus on proposing pedestrian & vehicular links to Main Street and physical changes to Main Street itself.
